Hello HBA players, parents and coaches!

With the beginning of October came the hustle of the start of the 2017-18 HBA season for many. If you don’t know where or when your practice is please investigate through your Team Pages login. If you continue to have difficulty please contact us at info@hbabasketball.net.

Some important dates:
October 14th – Games Start! Stay Tuned for the schedule(except Junior Boys and ROOKIE Ball)
October 15th – 11am Junior boys evaluations start at Sir John A MacDonald for ALL Junior Boys
Week of October 16th – ROOKIE Ball starts on your assigned day

We want to thank everyone for their patience with our new website and working through some of the small issues. We also want to thank everyone for their understanding and flexibility with scheduling of practice days, times and locations. It becomes quite tricky to assign 450 players to teams based on location preferences, day preference, car pooling preference, coach preference etc. We certainly have to prioritize these to make it so as many players can play despite with who or where they are playing.

We are working on getting practice and game schedules uploaded to the website.

SURPRISE!! All HBA players will be getting their very own basketball this year. The order did not make it in time for first practices so we are planning to have them for our first game day!

We have really tried to keep in touch with everyone this year and respond to questions and requests in a timely manner. If you have any thoughts, questions or concerns please email us at info@hbabasketball.net

See you all on the court and have a GREAT Season.
Dan Edwards and the HBA Executive Team!

Welcome to the HBA’s 2017-18 Season. This year promises to be a great year for basketball in Hamilton. We’re welcoming new faces to the court, and sidelines, and to the HBA Board.

We are also launching a new website design. We hope this will make it easier to get the information you want, and need, to make your experience with the league more enjoyable. But please bear with us as we work out any problems with the new site.

The first step of the process is to get everyone registered on the new site. You will be asked to join Team HBA as we make the turnaround. Once we have all the players, coaches, and sites, in order you will then be asked to join your team.

Emails will accompany each step of the process.

Should you have any questions or concerns please address them to info@hbabasketball.net and in the subject line type WEB ISSUE.

Thank you for your patience, and best of luck in the upcoming season.

Giving kids a sporting chance!

Jumpstart Charities gives kids a sporting chance.

Participating in sport helps kids develop physical and social skills. It helps build self-esteem. By helping kids get into the game, we’re equipping them with determination. And we’re giving them confidence that will extend beyond practices and games.

No kid should be left on the sidelines but in Canada 1 in 3 families cannot afford to enroll their kids in organized sports. That’s almost 750,000 kids every year who want to play, but just can’t.

Jumpstart aims to change that. Across Canada, Jumpstart has over 300 Chapters, which are made up of volunteers from across the Canadian Tire enterprise and local community groups, such as local Parks and Recreation Departments, Boys and Girls Clubs and the YMCA/YWCA, among others.

Money raised within each Chapter stays within the community and goes directly to help kids participate in sport, dance or other organized physical activities. Jumpstart funding helps families that need a financial hand with registration, equipment and/or transportation costs.

Jumpstart also helps community groups provide high-quality programs for local youth. From developing swimming programs to distributing activity kits filled with equipment, not only are the kids given the chance to participate, but local sport and school programs also benefit from Jumpstart’s help.

Since 2005, more than 1 million kids between the ages of 4 and 18 have been helped by Jumpstart and that number grows every day.

How can Jumpstart help those kids dreaming on the sidelines? Sign them up. Suit them up. And get them in the game.
